The essence of interior design will always be about people and how they live. It is about the realities of what makes for an attractive, civilized, meaningful environment, not about fashion or what’s in or what’s out.

RENOVATIONS

Renovations are my passion. The key to any renovation project is planning. Having clear goals of what one hopes to achieve, putting the plan to paper, and then executing that plan. My goal when renovating is for the space or home to feel like it is the way it was meant to be.

NEW BUILDS

The beauty of working on a new build is the decisions and changes can be made in the blueprint stages; every hard surface can be chosen at will, there is no working with existing issues that cannot be changed. My goal in a new build is to bring your dream to reality.

Decorating

Sometimes all we need is to update our spaces. A new layout for existing furniture. Replacing tired carpet with wood flooring. Reupholstering or slipcovering a sofa and fresh new wall colour. The transformation can be amazing! Together we can find your style and update that sleepy room.

Changing with the Times

The goal of this project was to change the narrative of this well built home from a traditional centre hall plan with many small rooms into an open concept urban space. Most walls were removed on the main floor and the spaces became more connected. The kitchen dining became one beautiful open space; bright and airy. The living room is now used for multi function, and is no longer an unused formal space. When entering the home the rooms are all visible from the entrance.

Warm design for a waterfront getaway.

This warm and cozy ski chalet, nestled on a tranquil lake was more than ready for a renovation. Multiple add-ons had created a maze of halls and bad traffic flow. The main entrance was uninviting, while the stairway to the second floor was narrow, dark, and out of the way. To achieve a more natural flow, a small addition was constructed and the floor plan was re-worked; group the bedrooms on one side of the home, and living/entertaining on the other side.

Calming in town family retreat.

The goal of this renovation was to transform the exterior and interior from a traditional brick split into an updated vacation property. To give the exterior of the house, guest cottage, and pool cabana a natural and tactile feeling, the existing aluminum and brick was replaced by real stone and cedar wood. The interior changes included: removing the living room drop ceiling, refinishing the maple floors, redesigning the master bed and bath for a large walk-in closet and new entry, and enclosing an open deck with screens and windows. The result is a calming simplicity in the grey taupe colour palette.

Country luxury at its best.

The owner of this beautiful country estate wanted to update and refresh the home - we decided to add drama and contrast to the existing impressive architectural elements. Each room called for attention, such as: new floors, updating wall colour, new furniture pieces to compliment existing furniture, and reupholstering good quality pieces to work with the new palette. Integrating ideas with existing surfaces and permanent features that are not presently changing, is always a challenge to work around.

Cozy family ski retreat.

The owners of this beautiful chalet had skied in the area for many years and as their family grew in numbers so did their need for a larger vacation home. This was our 3rd project together. They are a couple who know what they like and are open to new ideas. With such a large home and oversized rooms it was important to create a cozy interior for apre ski and family gatherings. Oversized rooms and vaulted ceilings can sometimes feel cavernous and cold - wood beams and organic light fixtures can help to create a more intimate atmosphere.
